Business Planning: Entrepreneurship in Action (On-Site)
Thursdays, June 28 - August 2, 2018, 9-11 am
Open to students entering grades 11-12 (grade 10 considered by request)
Course Credit: Not offered for credit
Max Enrollment: 20 students
This course is designed to provide an authentic experience as part of an internal entrepreneurship project team. Students will be placed in small teams to focus on one of many different start-up concepts presented by real-world entrepreneurs in the first week. Teams will be formed based on students’ interests and areas of expertise derived from information provided in their application essays.
Each team will work with the entrepreneur on planning a business from product development, manufacturing and distribution, through finance, marketing, and sales. At the end of the course, groups will present a 5-minute “elevator pitch” to a panel of business professionals as well as develop a strategic plan.
*Please note, July 26 and August 2 classes run from 9 am-12 pm.*
Students interested in enrolling in this class must complete the Application Form prior to registering for this course. The deadline to apply is March 1, 2018.
Applicants who do not attend The Rivers School are required to email a copy of their most recent grade report to David Tierney, Director of Summer Programs.
